Renaissance
Renaissance explored creative rebirth through an editorial publication and launch experience created for Ottawa Design Club. Built around the idea of renewal, the project brought together artists, designers, writers, and performers reflecting on transformation in their own practices.
The publication became a way to hold many interpretations of change in one place. Rather than treating the theme as a single visual direction, the design created a flexible editorial system that allowed each contributor's work to feel distinct while still belonging to the larger story.
Editorial Design
The visual direction used contrast, texture, and metallic print finishes to support the theme of emergence. Xerox Iridesse technology allowed silver and specialty inks to shift across the page, giving the publication a sense of movement and material depth.
Typography, pacing, and image placement were used to create rhythm throughout the publication. The editorial system balanced moments of quiet reflection with more expressive spreads, creating a reading experience that felt layered without becoming chaotic.

From Page to Space
Renaissance culminated in a launch event at Wall Space Gallery, where the publication expanded into a shared cultural experience. The event brought the community together through print, performance, and conversation, turning the publication into something people could gather around.
The launch reinforced the role of editorial design beyond the finished object. Renaissance became part publication, part archive, and part community moment, capturing a period of creative renewal through both print and live experience.
