Building Bridges
Building Bridges explored how editorial design can bring people, medium and ideas together. Featuring the work of 37 artists, the project combined a 228-page publication with an exhibition that extended the conversation beyond the page.
Rather than treating the publication and exhibition as separate experiences, they were developed as one cohesive system. Every decision, from the visual language to the exhibition design, reinforced the idea of connection.
Editorial Design
Co-designed with Ariane Bédard, the publication balanced thirty-seven distinct artistic voices within a single editorial framework. Blue and orange anchored the visual identity, while gradients radiated from the spine, suggesting connections extending outward beyond the publication itself.
Typography and pacing guided readers through the work, with pull quotes creating moments of pause throughout the book. Fluorescent inks printed with Xerox Iridesse technology added another layer to the reading experience, while two interchangeable covers offered different points of entry into the same publication.

The project culminated in an exhibition at AXENÉO7 in Gatineau, where the publication expanded into a shared physical experience. More than 300 people attended the opening, introducing many Ottawa visitors to a venue they had never experienced before and reinforcing the project's central idea that design can build bridges between communities.
Building Bridges became the most successful publication launch in Ottawa Design Club's history and was later recognized with a Graphis Silver Award for editorial design.
